How long will it take me to learn Spanish?

As you go through the course you'll learn practical phrases you can put into use immediately, starting with the first unit. The audio is divided into units, each taking from 5 - 15 minutes, followed by exercises to test your mastery of the materials. Once you have mastered a unit (by scoring better than 75% on the exercises) move on to the next unit which will add new vocabulary and phrases for a different work related situation. You will probably listen to each audio unit several times before you can satisfactorily complete the related exercises and move on to the next unit.

You really should not try to complete the course in a compressed period of a few days. We'd suggest at most one unit a day. The courses vary in length, there will be from 1 - 4 hours of audio materials divided into 13 - 21 units with 13 - 55 exercises. So, depending on the course, it will probably take 3 - 4 weeks working 1 - 2 hours a day. When you have completed the course, we suggest that you refresh your memory occasionally by listening to a unit whenever it's convenient - during your commute, at the gym etc.

I learned Spanish at school, will this course be too basic for me?

Your existing Spanish will help accelerate your learning, this course will extend your vocabulary to work related scenarios and includes commonly heard colloquial expressions, slang and profanities that you definitely won't have learned at school.

What level of Spanish will I be able to speak when I've completed the course?

You'll be able to communicate with Spanish speakers (adults and children) using correct and appropriate Spanish to enable you to identify the key facts of a situation, understand what happened and manage the scene to assure the safety of civilians and yourself. You will be able to understand commonly used colloquial expressions/ slang/ profanities frequently used by people under stress. This is commonly referred to as "First Responder Spanish".

What happens during the coaching?

Alejandra will ask you a few questions to evaluate your mastery of the topics you have already covered and provide feedback based on your responses. She'll be glad to answer any other questions you may have regarding Spanish.

I'm already bi-lingual, but I've never taught languages. Can I really teach Spanish to my colleagues using your techniques?

Yes you can. The instructor guide provides a complete package of learning objectives, techniques, presentation materials and tips integrated with the student materials. When you've reviewed the instructor guide you can schedule a two hour coaching session with the course developer who has presented the course many times and will certify you to teach the course. We'll be with you throughout your planning to help ensure the success of you and your students.
